Do You Know How SIPAT Began?

SIPAT — Internal Week for the Prevention of Workplace Accidents — was born out of the need to promote a more structured and consistent approach to worker health and safety within Brazilian companies.

Key Milestones

• The creation of the Internal Commission for Accident Prevention (CIPA) came with the regulation of company-worker relations in high-risk environments.
• The regulation that made it mandatory for organisations to maintain a CIPA and hold SIPAT is NR 5, established by the Ministry of Labour on 8 June 1978.
• From its origin, SIPAT’s main goal has been to raise awareness among employees and management about identifying, correcting, and preventing risk conditions, accidents, and occupational illnesses.

Why SIPAT Matters to Us

In the context of Vantec Máquinas — a company operating in industrial environments with automation and heavy-duty machinery — holding SIPAT means far more than ticking a compliance box.
It represents a cultural alignment with safety, productivity, and the well-being of our workforce. When each individual understands their role in prevention, we reduce risks, strengthen the work environment, and contribute to safer operations.

How to Apply This Legacy in Our Daily Routine

• Engage all departments — production, maintenance, logistics, design — to ensure SIPAT is more than just a lecture. It should encourage real risk identification, improvement suggestions, and post-event follow-ups.
• Integrate relevant themes such as ergonomics, mental health, and occupational illness prevention — because SIPAT has evolved.
• Involve the team in building the week: choosing topics, proposing activities, giving feedback — making the event meaningful and truly connected to the factory's day-to-day reality, not just a formal occurrence.
